Program Details:

 

Season: June–August 2026 (summer camp season)

Duration: 7.5 hours (8:30 AM–4:00 PM)

Location: Upton Beach, Marin County 

Participants: 25 kids max ( 1:5 instructor ratio)

Cost: $150/day or $500/week 

Shuttle: $20 per day or $100/week

Equipment: Wetsuits, surfboards, booties provided (cleaning fee included)

 

Schedule:

    • Parents drop off kids at the Safeway lot (1 Camino Alto, Mill Valley).

    • Staff ( check attendance, collect signed waivers, and ensure kids have water bottles, sunscreen, and lunch or money.

    • Brief parents on the day’s plan.

    • Safety briefing: Van rules and camp expectations.

    • Travel: ~20–25 minutes to Upton Beach via CA-1 (~12 miles).

    • Kids unload with staff and change into wetsuits in portable changing tents.

    • Warm-up led by instructors (): stretching, beach sprints, and a quick game (e.g.banana tag) to build energy.

    • Safety talk: Ocean conditions, rip current awareness, buddy system, and equipment care.

    • On-Land Instruction (20 minutes): Instructors teach board handling, paddling, and pop-up techniques, tailored to skill levels (beginner to intermediate).

    • In-Water Session (1 hour 40 minutes): Kids surf in groups of 4–5 with one instructor, focusing on wave-catching and fun. Stinson Beach’s white-water waves ensure quick success for beginners.

    • Fun element: Mini “wave-catching contest” with small prizes (e.g., stickers).

    • Kids eat packed lunches (or pre-ordered meals, e.g., sandwiches from a local deli like Mill Valley Market, ~$10/kid) under a shaded canopy or beach tent.

    • Supervised free time: Beach games like frisbee or building small sandcastles, fostering community (aligned with your camp’s vibe).

    • Instructors (e.g., Sasha) share ocean facts or lead a quick eco-talk (e.g., marine life), reinforcing your eco-friendly focus.

    • Group activities led by instructors: Tug-of-War, Sandcastle Competition, or Treasure Hunt (from your summer camp). These build teamwork and keep energy high.

    • Optional dry-land surf drills (e.g., balance board practice) for skill-building.

    • Second surf session with a focus on refining skills (e.g., turning or wave selection for intermediates). Smaller groups ensure personalized feedback.

    • Fun element: “Surf relay” where teams paddle out and back, adding a playful challenge.

    • Kids bring gear back to shop, change out of wetsuits, and pack up.

    • Group beach clean-up (e.g., collecting litter), emphasizing our camp’s environmental commitment.

    • Quick debrief: Instructors share highlights, praise kids’ progress, and hand out daily awards. 

    • Kids and staff load into the van with equipment secured.

    • Travel: ~20–25 minutes back to Mill Valley.

  • Parents pick up kids at the Safeway lot. Staff verify authorized guardians and share photo access.

  • Day: Monday- Wednesday (flexible for other weekdays, September 1st –November 2nd , 2025

  • Duration: 4 hours total (including travel, 1.5-hour surf session)

  • Location: Upton Beach, Marin County and  Bolinas

  • Participants: 12 kids max

  • Cost: $100 per session

  • Equipment: Wetsuits, surfboards, and booties provided (cleaning fee included)

 

Schedule:

    • Parents drop off kids at the designated area in the Safeway 1 Camino alto.

      •  Safety briefing: Staff outline van rules and program expectations.

      •  Travel: ~30 minutes 

    • Kids unload with staff assistance and change into provided wetsuits in a designated area (e.g., portable changing tents for privacy).

    • Instructors distribute surfboards and review equipment care.

    • Group warm-up led by an instructor stretching and light beach games. 

    • Safety briefing: Ocean conditions, rip current awareness, and buddy system rules.

    • On-Land Instruction (15 minutes): Instructors teach board handling, paddling, and pop-up techniques, tailored to skill levels (beginner to intermediate).

    • In-Water Session (1 hour 15 minutes): Kids surf in groups of 4-5 with one instructor focusing on standing up, wave selection, and fun. Beginner-friendly waves at Stinson Beach and Bolinas .

    • Kids rinse gear and change out of wetsuits.

    • Quick beach clean-up activity (e.g., picking up litter), reinforcing your camp’s eco-friendly values, inspired by Marin Surf School’s community focus.

    • Snack break (provided or brought by kids, e.g., granola bars, water).

    •   Kids and staff load into the van with equipment secured.

    • Travel: ~20–25 minutes back to Mill Valley.

  • Parents pick up kids at the Safeway lot. Staff ensure each child is released to an authorized guardian.
